The import of luxury and non-essential goods is prohibited
On 19 May 2022, the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of Pakistan issued SRO-598(I)/2022, temporarily prohibiting the import of certain luxury and non-essential goods and immediately eliminating the current account deficit.
The authorities will confiscate all imported goods containing these items. Returning to the origin is also not allowed.
Examples of prohibited products:
Inflatable water and juices; automatic CBU; sanitary ware; carpets (except Afghanistan); chandeliers and lighting fixtures or equipment; chocolate; cigarettes; confectionery items; corn flakes; cosmetics and shaving supplies; paper towels; pottery decoration/decoration items; dog and cat food; door and window frames; fish and footwear fruits and dried fruits; furniture and household appliances CBU; ice cream jams, jelly and preserved fruits; luxury leather jackets and clothing; mattresses and sleeping bags; frozen or processed meats; mobile phone CBU; musical instruments; pasta weapons ammunition; shampoo Sunglasses; ketchup; travel bags and suitcases
